“That seems unfair. Can they do that?”
“Honey, it’s an illegal way you’re getting money from people who got the money that they are loaning you in illegal ways. This is not protected by the FDIC. When you deal with men like them, you take your chances, because they aren’t sending you letters with return envelopes when you don’t get their money to them on time; they are coming to get you for a private conversation.”
“What do these conversations entail?” She was halfway through the last pizza when she seemed to be running out of steam. He’d kept her glass full of beverage as a way to keep his hands busy because god knew he’d lost his appetite when this whole conversation started.
He didn’t want to scare her, but he’d started this in honesty, and for whatever reason he wanted to complete it the same way. There was something about her that made him want to be up front with her. She should be a therapist, because he felt comfortable telling her things that he really didn’t need to tell anyone, but here he was watching her big green eyes widen and narrow based on the portion of the tale he’d reached. It was awesome watching her think, and she asked questions so he knew she was listening intently.
“They don’t really talk with their mouths, because you both know what is being done here. You have reneged on a deal of some sort, and if you don’t have the money to pay up they are going to beat you up.”
“How does that get them their money back?”
“It doesn’t, but it makes the person more motivated to find ways to pay back the loan.”
“Has anyone ever been killed if they don’t bring back the money?” she asked, and he could tell she wanted to hear the fairy tale that no they just beat you up again and again until you finally gave them what they wanted, but it wasn’t the truth.
“Yes if it goes on long enough or if they just want to make a point, they will end your life.” He told her and watched the panic set in her eyes. For whatever reason, she was really invested in this, and he hoped it was because she felt sorry for him and wanted him to be around.
“What stage are you in for this beat down, and are they looking for you?” She looked so concerned that he thought of changing the subject and moving on, but it was a big topic to just drop and say “Would you like something else to eat.” He’d have to finish what he started.
“I’m sure they’re looking for me. I would be such a good person to make a lesson out of because I used to be a member of the club. They know I don’t have any family, and I’ve managed to allude them for quite a while so knowing what I know about them, I’m on the hit list.”
She picked up a pizza crust and nibbled on it, and he could tell that it wasn’t because she was hungry. He’d seen her eat when she was hungry, and it wasn’t nibbling. This was either comfort eating or just something to do while you listened to how deep someone else’s shit got.
“Why are you walking around when they could get to you at any time?” She seemed concerned, but also like she was wondering how he continued to live his life with a big bounty on his head.
“They could but I know their routines… hell I created most of them. I know how they’ll try to find me and when the most likely times are. It’s not a perfect plan, but if I can get it to work the way I think it will I should be able to get their money for them in the next day or so. Then when they find me, I’ll give them their money, and all will be settled.”
“How do you know they won’t increase the price or just kill you anyway?” The concern in her eyes felt good for some reason. Maybe because there hadn’t been anyone who had worried over him for many years.
“I don’t. That’s the nature of the game. Sometimes you don’t know all the facts or have all the rules but you play the game and hope for the best.” He could tell she thought this was bull shit, but it was what he knew to be true. The worry he’d seen in her eyes had grown to anxiety and looked like it was going to bubble over into panic. He knew that a trouble shared was a trouble halved, but he didn’t want to share the stressed out feelings he’d been dealing with. He probably should have kept his mouth shut, but up until now, she looked interested. Maybe a change of topic and mood was in order, because whether these were his last few days on earth or not she’d brightened them and he wanted her to have a few good memories too.
He offered her his hand. “Let’s move this party to the couch.”
CHAPTER FIVE
Move this party over to the couch? That is all he could say. Ella watched Tyson strut over to the couch and had so many feelings and thoughts going through her mind, it was hard to focus. She felt sorry for the guy because who wouldn’t try to better themselves and their situation. Although she didn’t agree with how he was going about changing his life, at least he was making an attempt. Just like she was making an attempt to deal with the devil and change the circumstances of her life.
The second thing that was almost a neck and neck tie of her attention is the man who had sexually rocked her whole little world is the man she was supposed to turn in for money. It was sad that she was going to do it to some random person that she didn’t know, but now she was supposed to do it to the last lover she’d slept with? Could she do it? Was she that cold? She was going to have to be… unless she could help him get the money he owed The Reapers. Yes. That’s what she’d do. Then he’d pay off his debt, and they could start again with the money they were going to pay her. She wasn’t even going to think about how they told her they were going to split the hundred thousand dollars with her when it was really two hundred and fifty thousand.
She followed him slowly to the couch and sat down next to him. He was flipping through channels, and she couldn’t believe that he was so calm. “Sooooo,” she said not really knowing where to go from here but knowing something had to be done. “What are we going to do?”
“I was thinking about watching a bit of television and then going back to bed.”
She looked into his eyes to see if that’s all he was going to do. “Do you really think you can tell someone a story like that… let them into your life and your problems and then say let’s fuck and move on?”
That his brow was furrowed should have told her that he hadn’t a clue about what she was going on about, and she was amazed. “The story you told me at the table.”
“Yes.” It was as if the lights were on but no one was home. Why was he not getting this?
“How can I help you get out of this? Do you have a plan? I’d like to assist you if I can.” She slowed down her speech as if he had a mental disability that prevented him from understanding her.
“I can understand the words you are saying, Ella, but this isn’t your problem. I know you have a lot on your plate because getting out of prison makes it hard to find a job.”
She didn’t know what to say to him, but she knew she wasn’t leaving until this was finished. For more reasons than one, unfortunately.
“You’re right. I can’t find a job, and I live in a dinky dirty one room efficiency that has a bathroom in the hallway that all the people on that floor have to share, but that doesn’t mean that I don’t want to make sure you aren’t doing this alone.”
She couldn’t be sure, but he looked like he was pleased by her words and her desire to help him. He started nodding, but he still didn’t say anything.
“Are you alone?” she asked quietly because she didn’t know where she stood. It wasn’t like her to just bombard into someone’s life, but she had a vested interest, and she really didn’t want to see this go badly. She wouldn’t be able to live with herself if she was involved in his demise or even his beat down.
“I’ve been on my own for a long time, Ella. I’ve made problems for myself, and I will get out of them myself. I don’t want you to be involved. Don’t you want to get your life together? You have better things to do than get yourself hooked up with someone like me.”
“Whatever, Tyson, what‘s the plan?” She wasn’t the simpering miss he somehow thought she was, and she was going to hel
p him.
He took a deep breath as if he’d thought it through and knew that she wasn’t going to give up. She liked that he was intelligent enough to know when he needed help. Even if that wasn’t the reason, he was letting her stick around for a while.
“There is a race tomorrow night that is a sure thing. I’ll get my all of the money I owe to The Reapers, and I’ll have a few dollars for myself to get out of town. I may not get the bike shop that I wanted from the start, but I’ll work at it.”
“This is the plan? Bet again? What if it doesn’t work? What if the horse stumbles or the shoe falls off; I’ve heard that can happen. You’re going to be in the same predicament you are in now.” She was out of breath by the time she finished with all that, and he was looking at her like she had grown another head.
“I appreciate your concern, but that’s about all I can do right now.”
“How much money do you have now? Maybe you can just leave with what you have… that’s a good idea right?”
“Honey, I know you want to help, but I don’t want to spend the rest of my life running… looking over my shoulder never knowing if someone is coming for me. That’s no life at all.” He looked like he wanted her to understand, but she just didn’t. He didn’t have any family; she couldn’t understand why he couldn’t just change his name and start all the way over. As a matter of fact, that shit sounded so good, she may do the same damn thing when she got the rest of her money. Money that she wouldn’t get by trying to get the man she was looking for escape town. This was making her dizzy.
“I understand that, but if you don’t get the money the people who are looking for you are going to make sure you don’t have a life at all. Wouldn’t you rather have a life that you had to look over your shoulder with than no life at all?”
“Sometimes I think that’s maybe what has to happen, but that’s not what I want. My goal is to pay back what I owe and walk out of this place with my head high.” He stood up from the couch and pulled Ella up with him. “I think we need a change of venue because you can’t seem to think of anything but this doom and gloom stuff.”
She wasn’t going to argue with him about that because it was true. It was nice having a purpose and something to think about other than the shabby state of her affairs.
When he got back to the room, he guided her in first and then walked in behind her. Although she knew what their final destination was going to be, she didn’t know how he planned to get her there.
“Want me to tell you what I know about you?” he said as he helped her out of the borrowed tee shirt he’d given her to wear. For whatever reason she was excited, and she really didn’t know why. She’d gotten her first orgasm with another person out of the way, so there was nothing she should be all worked up about.
“What do you think you know about me?” She was surprised at his quick change in mood from regular Joe to smooth talking sexy guy, but she liked that he was willing to do so much to get her mind off of his predicament.
“I made a living figuring people out, sweetheart.” He guided her to stand against the wall, and he directed her to put her foot on the chair next to her. She felt wanton and decadent standing there open for his perusal.
“Alright then, tell me what you think you know.”
He kept his eyes on her as he lowered himself to the floor in front of her, and all she wanted to do was grab his head and guide his mouth to the wet folds of her pussy, but she was trying to wait him out. Starting with kisses on her inner thigh Tyson worked his way up towards where she wanted him to be getting painfully close but then backing away.
“No hands,” Tyson said when he could see she was clutching and releasing air trying to stop herself from assisting him.
“Why?”
“Because you like being directed, but you also like to go against what you are being directed to do. You’re a paradox so full of contradictions I’m sure you’ve worn people out who were trying to find out what you like. You’re tough but caring, and stubborn but soft hearted.” After his little run down of who he thought she was, there wasn’t much she could do but gasp. There were people who’d known her for years and didn’t put that much thought into who she was. “You also like a challenge. You want a man who can take charge, but you like the power of taking the control back.”
When she was standing there shocked and amazed, he used his hand to expose her throbbing clit as he sucked her into his mouth. It felt like heaven, and she was unable to follow the simple instructions he’d told her. Her hands flew into his hair, and she held him to her like he was going to move away, although he showed no signs of wanting to get up.
He was good at reading her in a lot of different ways from watching how she moaned and moved as he sped up and slowed down the action of playing her body like an instrument to listening to her and figuring out what makes her tick. She felt like she was being pulled into his charm, and where she was concerned about his well-being as a person, she was also starting to care about him as a man. Her man… and she wasn’t sure if he was the star to hitch her wagon to. He had issues – big ones – and she should be trying to be issue free as long as she could. It was already going against her plan to stay out of trouble when she agreed to work with Bruce, but she’d done it for the money. Not unlike Tyson as she wanted to believe. This job was a gamble in and of itself, so she couldn’t fault the man on his knees in front of her for reaching for the pie in the sky but also wanting the steak on his plate while he waits.
He smiled as he ate her, and she was fascinated by that.
“Why are you smiling?” she asked him as she tried to stop from panting, but failed miserably.
“You make me want to smile, and I can’t tell you how long it’s been that I just felt like doing it. Plus I love making you moan. Your sweet pussy gets wetter, and you get louder when you are doing something you’ve been told not to do. You are a little rebel, and you get off on it,” he said between sucking kisses as he acted like her hands gripping his hair was of no consequence to him. She swore that made her hotter.
She was bucking and riding his mouth, and he coaxed her with his teeth and tongue. It would have been easier if she’d have been laying down, but deep down she knew he had learned enough about her to know she’d like it a little tricky. She didn’t want it easy, and she was almost ready to explode when he stood up and replaced his mouth with his cock. One thrust had him fully seated inside her and she came in riveting waves as he pumped his throbbing hardness into her so deep that all she could do was hold on for the ride.
“That’s it, Ella, keep coming for me,” he crooned into her ear, and her body responded to his soothing directions. She didn’t think she was going to stop, and her abdominal muscles hurt from the strength of her orgasm. She didn’t think he was far behind her in terms of completion, but he lifted her from her leg up position against the wall and carried her to the bed as she was still fully seated on his member.
When he got her positioned the way he wanted her, he held her legs up and gave her all he had. She was able to watch him come apart, and she couldn’t believe how arousing it was to watch him. The roar of his voice and the strength of his climax almost got her started for round three. He gave his all to everything he did from what she could see, and right then and right there she knew that they would make a perfect team. He rolled her on top of him when he was done, and she lay on his chest listening to his chaotic heartbeat.
When his breathing got back to normal, she lifted her head off his chest. “So what time do we go to the race tomorrow?”
She could feel his laugh as well as watch it as they were still connected, so the deep timber rolled over her and through her.
“You’re determined to do this with me, aren’t you?”
“Absolutely. Everyone needs a sidekick,” she told him, and although he laughed it off she knew he was happy because he wasn’t alone.
“Well if that’s what you want then, we should probably get some sleep and we can get going
in the morning to make sure everything is set up.”
“What would be set up?” She didn’t know much about horse races but she’d thought you showed up, placed your bet, and hoped for the best.
“A friend of mine is the owner of the horse, and he has assured a few of us that his horse is going to win. That’s what I’m basing all of my come back on. It’s a shady deal, but he’s doing this for a debt he has to pay to someone. That’s all I know. He knew I was in some trouble, and he wanted to help me along with helping himself.” He looked at her, and she guessed he was trying to see what she was thinking. “That’s why I didn’t really want you to be involved. It’s not that I would get caught because I’m not technically doing anything but getting ahead using information that other people don’t know, but I’m sure you don’t want to be close to anything that could be potentially illegal.”
